Sunstone is a gorgeous, orange-hued stone with shimmery, sparkly inclusions.

Sunstone is generally found in colder countries, including Norway and Oregon; however, it is also found in India where there is plenty of sun. Ra was the God of the Sun, who was thought to have inspired all life present on Earth. In ancient Greece, the interpretation of sunstone was similar: it was considered to belong to the God of the Sun as well, whose name was Helios. Sunstone was often used to produce plates or goblets, as the Greeks believed that it was an antidote to poisons, and would enhance the flavor of beverages drank from sunstone vessels.

In some Eastern cultures, sunstone was worn on Sundays, and it was said to bring good fortune to the wearer. In India, it was even considered trustworthy protection from various catastrophic forces ruling in the universe.

Canadian Natives also believed in the magic of sunstone and used it for a variety of purposes. They believed that sunstone enhanced healing rituals and, to take advantage of these properties, sometimes put it at the very center of their traditional medicine wheels.
