Saffordite is a 30 million year old stone, found in and around Safford, Arizona. Its origin has been debated by scientists, as to whether it is a tektite (like moldavite or Libyan desert glass) or whether it is a terrestrial stone, formed by volcanic activity - similar to obsidian (the latter is the current theory).
Some Saffordite is opaque, while some pieces are translucent: hold your piece in front of a strong light (like your cell phone flashlight) and see which yours is.
