Crystals for the Election
3 election day crystals to try if you're feeling on edge
It's Election Day in the U.S. and, for many of us, this one in particular comes with a whole lot of feelings. Whether you feel caught up, worried, or nervous; or empowered, hopeful, or focused - know that you are not alone.
Here are some crystals and an affirmation that can support you, as we vote, help, watch, or wait.
Red Jasper
Red jasper is a stone for grounding and protection. It is also a stone of well-being - which we could all use a dose of today, amiright? Red jasper is also a stone of stability, passion, strength, courage, and purpose. If you're heading to the polls, you may want to take a piece of red jasper with you, to help remind you why you're there and what is important to you, and to boost your confidence and resolve - while keeping your mood stable - no matter how long the voting line is.
Red jasper affirmation: I stand strong and firm in my beliefs, my purpose, and my self. I am grounded, focused, energized, and steadfast, as I take action.
Clear Quartz
Clarity. Focus. Balance. Clear quartz is the perfect stone to support you today - or any day you need to draw on these energetic properties. Additionally, the ability to be programmed for any intention makes clear quartz a powerful stone to work with - as well as a secret weapon, to support you however you need.
Clear quartz affirmation: I am clear, focused, and ready. No matter the outcome, I can see clearly and know exactly who I am.
Blue Lace Agate
Blue lace agate is calming, soothing, and relaxing. If your nerves are little extra-sensitive today, or if you're feeling on edge as you watch votes come in, try some blue lace agate, to tap into its calming energies. Hold your blue lace agate. Close your eyes. Breathe in. Pause. Breathe out. Repeat as many times as you need.
Blue lace agate affirmation: I am calm. I am in control of my thoughts. I choose to focus on the best possible outcome.
I was reminded by Andrea Crowder over the past couple of days of an excellent - and important - affirmation: "I call all of my power back to me, right now." In a time that feels so volatile - and a day that most of us might prefer to fast-forward through - it is SO important to remember that WE CAN CHOOSE how we feel, how we react, and what thoughts we allow to play in our heads.
Of course you are allowed to feel any way you are feeling - that is totally valid, and I'm not here to tell you otherwise. Additionally, your feelings are not trivial: there are real consequences to elections, that affect millions of people - whether that is you, or someone you love.
What I do want to convey, though, is that you can ALSO choose to do things that make you feel a bit better - even if it's just for a few moments. You can be powerful and confident, but also get mad, feel fear, be anxious. You can feel nervous and upset - but also interrupt those thoughts and choose to look at things in another way.
I also want to remind you of the importance of taking breaks - especially today. Look away, turn off the tv, don't check the news, stay away from Facebook...even if it's only for an hour, here or there. Call a friend. Eat some sushi (am I the only one who thinks sushi is a comfort food?). Take a walk. Take a nap. Play with your dog. Most people will watch election results and updates today; and that is totally fine. But you don't have to refresh your browser every few minutes, to see if you've missed anything. If you're feeling overwhelmed, it's time to tune out - and it's safe to do so.
All of that said, if you are feeling stressed, scared, anxious, confused, upset, or any other feeling that does not make you feel centered, take a few minutes, breathe deeply, and say this affirmation - over, and over, and over, if you have to - until you start to come back to yourself:
"I call all of my power back to me, right now."
When I say this affirmation, I visualize swirls of energy coming back into my body, from all over. Each time you say it - "I call all of my power back to me, right now" - watch with your mind's eye where the energy is flowing into you from. In my experience, every time you say it, more of your energy will come back to you from different places.
I know this day (and the past weeks, months, or longer) can feel difficult. But remember that there are things to do, to lessen the stress you might be feeling. Give some (or all) of these a try - and remember to breathe.
Please vote today, if you have not. Your voice does matter. What you believe is important. Make sure you are being counted. It's your right, it's your duty, it's your privilege. Vote. Vote. Vote.
